Possible Online Scams to Avoid While Making Money Online

There’s no doubt that the Internet is a gold mine. The possibilities are endless and the chance to make money online is defiantly there. The only problem is that most of the people making the money are doing so by scamming others.

Treading carefully is the key to making a living online. Do your research before jumping into anything and always follow the golden rule – if it looks too good to be true, then it’s probably a scam!

Below are the most common traps that the majority of people fall into, along with useful hints and tips for making it online. There is money to make, but you’re going to have to put the work in to reap the benefits.

Types of Scam

Most scams will fall into two different categories:

1. Upfront Money

A scenario is set up where you’ll be offered something, may it be money or a job, or a gift; it could be any reward. You’ll then be asked to give something in return for collecting your prize.

This type of scam has evolved now to a stage where it’ll seem that you’re getting something for free until you’ve filled out forms and answered questions.

After all this, they’ll use misdirection, and while your head is elsewhere, they’ll slip into the mix that a deposit has to be paid. You’ll either be in so deep or completely sold to the idea that you’ll pay the money.

2. The work Horse

No upfront money is asked, yet the promise of riches is still offered. What could be wrong with this? Unfortunately, it could be another trap. Don’t be put off from the deal; just take it slow.

This scam works by using your valuable time, constantly reminding you that there is money that needs to be made and, as a result, keeps you working or doing something for nothing.

Little rewards will be given here and there, but they will be minute, and it won’t be possible to make the amount of money promised.

Some people might argue whether this is a scam or not, but It all comes down to a promise of money without any sustenance.

4 Types of Scams to Avoid

This list by no means covers every scam on the net, but hopefully, it’ll go some way to help your steer you away from the bad and into the good:

#-1. Paid Surveys – This little gem falls under both types of scams. Making money is impossible with the majority, an exception being the government survey sites (it’ll be nice to know if any other actually work).

You’ll find all your extra time disappear very quickly for a $1 coupon and sometimes the privilege of paying a membership fee. Your time can be better spent.

#-2. Online Investment Promises – There can be a lucrative career dealing with Forex bonds or just speculating on different markets, buy low and sell high. There can also be a chance to lose some of your hard-earned cash.

Some companies advertise online, offering high returns for small input. They aren’t all bad, but remember the rules if there’s an upfront fee or the promise of ridiculously high returns, then research the company and tread carefully.

#-3. The ‘You don’t have to know’ Scam – This one is widespread and is the glue in a high number of scams. If you see the words ‘you don’t have to know’ followed by ‘the Internet’ or ‘your computer’ or ‘investment’ (the list goes on).

Then followed by ‘to make money,’ you can already call off the investigation because it’s probably a scam.

The Internet may be a lot of things, but it’s not simple. If you see these words, then you can be pretty sure that it’s a trap for Internet beginners and a way to lure those in with no experience and take them for a ride.

#-4. Email Scams – You don’t always have to go looking for a scam to find one. We’re all aware of the strange emails we sometimes receive, but sometimes our curiosity gets the better of use.

More promises that never deliver. It’s worth noting that they now come on twitter as well!
